Social Media

Should I be doing it?

It depends.

But probably not anytime soon.

Breathe a huge sigh of relief.

I know I did.

Instagram and TikTok tend to yield few cash-paying clients—unless you are a huge brand with lots of money.

It tends to be a bottomless pit because most people don’t buy from these platforms.

When was the last time you bought anything while mindlessly scrolling your feed?

Exactly.

Now, here’s one exception…

LinkedIn.

LinkedIn can be a very powerful lead source for many of my clients because this is where decision-makers spend their time!

You can easily post your content and engage thoughtfully in the comments—with people who are looking to network and the culture is incredibly positive.

I have found a lot of success on LinkedIn simply by asking people if they would be willing to connect on Zoom for 15 minutes.

I don’t go into the call asking for a sale. I genuinely have the intention to get to know someone, and inevitably, they ask what I do.

Sometimes they are curious, and sometimes not. But I always ask if they know anyone who may be looking for help.

Perhaps in the future, I will invest time, energy, and effort into Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc. But for now, I will consistently and intentionally use LinkedIn to find business owners.

My recommendation is to focus on building relationships by networking in-person and online.

I promise it worked for me and will work for you too.

I took a ferry to this beautiful island called Vieques. It’s known for having the brightest bay in the world for bioluminescence, but also for its many horses that roam freely—left behind by the conquistadores. One morning, I woke up at 5 am to walk to the Black Sand Beach. Nobody was there. On top of a ridge, I saw horses grazing and it was so magical. As I gazed at the ocean, I realized... the ocean has never stopped. How mind-blowing is that? Then, it started to rain, and I captured this moment on my film camera. Puerto Rico, 2024
